will I wake tomorrow from this nightmare?
Feb. 9th, 2005 12:02 amHe's been cold for... he doesn't even know how long, by now. Even with five or six extra blankets that the hospital doesn't usually have out in the summer, even with the sweatshirt (which is Collins-sized, and would probably look like it was trying to eat him alive under normal circumstances, never mind now), he's been freezing. He doesn't like it much.
The hospital staff's been a bit reluctant to let any of his HIV-positive friends visit since he really started sliding downward, in the spirit of keeping them relatively healthy. But Collins has been... insistent, on a few occasions, and this is one of them.
It strikes Angel as a good day for it, since he thinks he's finally starting to warm up. If it's anything like what he's heard about hypothermia, that's not such a good sign on the whole, but he's mostly past caring how he warms up, so long as it happens.
Before he goes completely, he smiles at Collins and says, "I'll see you later." The conviction in that statement surprises him, for all he's been the optimist of the group since Christmas.
And then...
And then there's a door. That's funny. He wasn't expecting a door.
